You can download the script from this Zip file. Some of these licenses also includes personal e-mail support for up to 1 year. I'm sure someone who's running konquerer on linux (or whatever) will be happy to let you know how it works for them. This script is distributed under the LGPL open source license.Ĭommercial licenses are also available.
Good luck with it and feel free to post a prototype and ask for some tire kicking here. A good safety net to have, and it actually looked seamless from the user end.Īnyway, sorry I couldn't specifically answer your question about scripts. I've been to a few sites where the menus didn't work but if you clicked the main category, instead of a drop-down you got taken to a list of options for nav. That also gives someone with an incompatible browser/no javascript the ability to navigate the site if they're so determined as to go to the site map. If you're going to use dynamic menus, I would absolutely recommend that you have a text link to an all-text site map (which the bots can follow) linked off the bottom of every page. I don't believe most SE bots can properly follow dynamic menus to index pages on the site. So my best advice would be to test in as many scenarios as you possibly can, since IE ain't the only game in town anymore and the days of sloppily coded sites/scripts that only work in IE are fading off into the sunset.Īnother problem with dynamic menus is search engines. in IE the submenu (1st order child) are ok, but in the Firefox (ff) the drop down menu items are show above of the parent menu.i meant the submenus are supposed to drop to down but now they are dropping to up. today I faced some problem while using it. While you may not really care about Mac or Netscape users, it seems the use of "niche" browsers like opera and firebird is on the rise. dear, first of all thanks for fantastic tools. Some of them aren't compatible across various browsers/platforms. It creates cross-browser drop down menus, JavaScript menus in seconds, without JavaScript experience. I've been to some sites where pages take forever to load while it says "building hierarchical menus", then if you go to another page it repeats the entire process even though it's the same menu. DHTML Menu is a simple, search engine friendly menu maker.
For one thing, they do seem to slow everything down. In particular, its Visual QuickMenu Pro application gives you the tools necessary to create stunning menus for your Web site. Click to expand.I've never been crazy about dynamic menus, either.
